Diabetes affects approximately 30.3 million Americans, most of whom have type 2 disease. The high morbidity and mortality from type 2 diabetes and associated disease states has stimulated research to further understand the pathogenesis of the disease and identify new therapeutic modalities to improve clinical outcomes. This webinar series explores type 2 diabetes as an underappreciated risk factor for additional diseases, such as heart failure, cardiovascular disease, and kidney disease. New and emerging therapies that have the potential to positively affect the cardiovascular aspects of the disease are also reviewed.
