About This Initiative
This educational initiative will review the complex pathophysiology and clinical presentation of patients with eosinophilic esophagitis as well as recent guideline recommendations for the treatment. Although there are currently no FDA-approved therapies for EoE, current and emerging treatments will be explained, as will the critical role pharmacists play in patient counseling, assisting with access to medications, and optimizing overall care.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a rare disease that has only been distinguished from gastrointestinal reflux disease since the mid-1990s. This live virtual symposium reviews the complex pathophysiology and clinical presentation of patients with EoE, including recent guideline recommendations for the treatment of EoE. Successful treatment of EoE hinges on an interprofessional approach to care. This activity also provides an interprofessional treatment plan for a patient with EoE, highlighting the pharmacist’s role.
