Assistant Director, Business Development

MARTHA DAVIES RUSSELL brings over 15 years of association management experience to the ASHP Advantage team, which includes a variety of roles and responsibilities at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). As Assistant Director of Business Development, Russell works closely with industry partners to develop projects and proposals to generate new business opportunities for both clients and ASHP.

Before joining ASHP Advantage, Russell was the Director of the ASHP Conference and Convention Division and was responsible for coordinating logistics for ASHP national meetings, exhibit programs, and conferences. Key responsibilities included developing the business plan for ASHP meetings, site selection and negotiation, maintaining business relationships with hotel and convention center staff, monitoring revenue and expenses to achieve projected margins, onsite management of national meetings, and continuous evaluation and quality improvement of meeting/conference activities and exhibit sales. 

Russell has also held positions in the ASHP Educational Services Division and has experience developing and implementing a variety of educational and training programs including ASHP specialty conferences and regional seminars. Russell graduated from Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland with a degree in health education and a concentration in business administration.
