RON DeCHANT is a Scientific Project Manager with ASHP ADVANTAGE. Ron has extensive experience in pharmacy practice as well as in continuing education for pharmacists and other health care professionals.

 

As Scientific Project Manager, Ron is responsible for developing and implementing a variety of educational programs and related projects. He works closely with educational program faculty and assures that all programs are in compliance with ACPE and ACCME standards for quality.

 

Most recently, Ron served as Director, Pharmacy Support Services for Express Scripts, Inc., CuraScript IP Infusion Pharmacy division in Louisville, KY, previously Priority Healthcare and Integrity Healthcare Services, Inc. He has also held positions in customer education, professional relations, communications, and Pharmacy Affairs at Baxter Healthcare Corporation, Clintec Nutrition Company and Nestle Clinical Nutrition, division of Nestle S.A.  While at Baxter and Clintec, he was involved in the development and implementation of numerous multi-site annual continuing education symposia series for hospital pharmacists, nurses, dietitians and physicians.

 

Ron received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy in Columbus, Ohio, and completed a two year ASHP-accredited residency in hospital pharmacy at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, along with a Master of Science in Hospital Pharmacy Management from the University of Kansas. His pharmacy practice includes experience as a clinical satellite pharmacist in a large tertiary care hospital; pharmacy management of a medium size community hospital pharmacy; and pharmacy manager and general manager of a home infusion pharmacy servicing a broad range of home care patients and therapies. For several years, he was involved in the search and recruitment of health care professionals for positions within the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. His responsibilities have also included the development of policies and procedures to assure compliance with JCAHO, USP and state board regulations and standards for home infusion practice, USP Chapter 797 and other regulatory requirements.
