Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able
to:
- Compare and contrast the pharmacologic properties and side
effect profiles of the currently-available 5-HT3 receptor antagonist
agents.
- Discuss the importance of individualized patient dosing verses
dosing per guidelines and the associated risks and benefits.
- Describe the special considerations for use of 5-HT3 receptor
antagonist agents in certain patients such as those with cardiovascular
conditions, liver disease, renal dysfunction, and geriatric patients.
- List and describe the potential adverse effects and drug interactions
associated with these agents and opportunities to optimize supportive
care.
