A multidisciplinary Invitational Conference
April 8 - 9, 2002
Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
Tuscon, Arizona

Patient safety is now at center stage in the eyes of the public and public policy makers. Building a safer health system in the 21st Century will require that we accept the responsibility for improving the current system. Fundamental to systems improvement is measurement. The medication use system has been suggested as one of the current systems in health care that needs to be improved. Unfortunately, we lack a consistent measurement system for medication use safety.

The invitational multidisciplinary conference "Measuring Medication Safety in Hospitals" will address measuring medication use safety in depth. The foremost experts in this field have agreed to participate in this meeting to discuss known and potential measurement methods. The conference will feature workshops enabling participants to interact with authorities in the field of measuring medication safety and vignette presentations presented by practitioners who are using innovative new technologies to measure and improve medication safety.
