Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, attendees should be able to:

1. List the different types of pain and the common clinical signs symptoms of each type.

2. Describe the role of opioids in chronic and acute pain.

3. Calculate a proper oral pain medication dosage based on a patient's intravenous pain medication regimen.

4. Outline parameters used to monitor a pain management plan.

5. Describe the key principles of a multimodal approach to pain management.
