• Describe the clinical course of COPD and its long term consequences for patients, families and society.
• Identify the etiology and symptoms of acute exacerbation of COPD and the signs of severity.
• Describe the role of ß2 agonists, anticholinergics, and corticosteroids in the treatment of acute exacerbation of COPD.
• Discuss the utilization of antibiotics in the treatment of acute exacerbation of COPD.
• Develop follow-up plans for acute exacerbation of COPD which include strategies for smoking cessation, education on device use, pulmonary rehabilitation programs, and self-management considerations.
