At the conclusion of this program, attendees should be able to:
- Describe the clinical course of COPD and its long term consequences for patients, families
and society.
- Identify the etiology and symptoms of acute exacerbation of COPD and the signs of severity.
- Describe the role of ß2 agonists, anticholinergics, and corticosteroids in the treatment of acute exacerbation of COPD.
- Discuss the utilization of antibiotics in the treatment of acute exacerbation of COPD.
- Develop follow-up plans for acute exacerbation of COPD which include strategies for smoking cessation, education on device use, pulmonary rehabilitation programs, and self-management considerations.
