Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Explain the USP chapter <797> requirements for the training of personnel in
compounding sterile preparations, including the role of didactic instruction, direct
observation, and evaluation of aseptic manipulation skills through media
fill testing.
- Interpret and apply USP chapter <797> requirements for environmental monitoring
to a specific practice setting where sterile preparation compounding
takes place.
- Describe the timeline for phasing in USP chapter <797> requirements in the
JCAHO accreditation process throughout 2005 and 2006 and the implications
of impending changes to USP requirements for JCAHO standards, state board
of pharmacy regulations, and National Institute for Occupational Safety and
Health recommendations.
