Program Overview
This program is intended to provide attendees with the latest information regarding the management of colorectal cancer and insight into how the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA) is expected to change how patients with colorectal cancer are treated. The program will begin with a review of the importance of early detection methods, the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system and its significance on adjuvant treatment options. The use of newer agents, such as capecitabine, irinotecan, oxiliplatin, bevacizumab, and cetuximab, in adjuvant treatment will also be addressed. Other clinical discussion will focus on the latest science behind treatment strategies for colon cancer and the emerging role of genetic tests in dosing and treatment. The program will conclude with a review of MMAšs financial impact on health systems and the available options for treating patients with colorectal cancer. The presentation will discuss the expected shift in the site of care delivery from physician-based treatments to hospitals and components of health systems.Arrangements for Special Assistance
