Program Description
USP-NF Chapter <797>, Pharmaceutical Compounding: Sterile Preparations, the first set of enforceable sterile compounding standards, has provided the opportunity for many pharmacy departments to redesign or improve sterile preparation compounding physical
facilities and refine departmental policies and procedures. These new standards have also generated discussion and debate about the cost of renovations, methods of sterility testing, and potential revisions to the Chapter.
This program will provide the opportunity for you to hear from the experts on the latest issues in sterile product preparation. What engineering controls should you be considering in facility design? What effect will these
decisions have on your facility’s budget? What’s proposed for Chapter <797> revisions? What’s next with JCAHO®? If you have anything to do with sterile product preparation, you can’t afford to miss this program!
Target Audience
This symposium was planned to meet the needs of pharmacy directors, managers,
pharmacists, and technicians in a variety of health systems, including large and small
hospitals, managed care facilities, inpatient facilities, outpatient clinics, and home care
settings, as well as the pharmaceutical industry and academia. The program would
be beneficial for those who manage sterile product preparation areas or compound
sterile preparations.
