Podcasting makes an audio file, typically an MP3 file, available online for downloading via an automatic "feed." You can then hear the podcast whenever you want using your computer and/or a portable media player.
What equipment do I need for podcasting?
The first thing you need is podcast subscription software ("podcast tool") to manage your podcast subscription. Your options include the latest version of Apple's iTunes or iPodder, among others (See List). In most cases the software is free.
Once you've downloaded a podcast, you can listen to it with your computer (assuming it can play MP3 audio files) or you can transfer podcasts from your computer to a portable media device.
How do I suscribe to podcasts?
To subscribe to ASHP Advantage CE Podcasts, and automatically receive new programs when they are published, copy the URL from the box below and paste it into your podcasting tool.
In order to receive new programs automatically, make sure the scheduling function on your podcasting tool is set to search for new podcasts automatically.
How do I access the slides and handouts?
Locate the Podcast program in the list below and click on the program title, then "right click" on the "Program Materials" link to download a PDF file, which includes the learning objectives, speaker biographies, slides, references, post-program test, and other program information.
Can I receive CE credit for podcasts?
To receive CE credit, listen to the program and then visit the online testing center at www.ashp.org/advantage/ce/ to complete the post-test. Users who successfully complete the post test will be able to print their CE certificate immediately.
