This educational initiative focuses on two populations at high risk for poor bone health: postmenopausal women and patients with breast or prostate cancer at risk for bone loss because of hormone ablation therapy. Even though it is well accepted that the former group is at risk for developing osteoporosis and fractures, the risk of bone loss in patients with breast or prostate cancer is not so obvious. Cancer-treatment-induced bone loss is of growing concern because of the expanding use of long-term, effective anticancer treatments that prolong cancer-related mortality.
Choose from among the following continuing pharmacy education (CPE) opportunities to expand your knowledge of bone health in postmenopausal women and in patients with breast or prostate cancer, as well as to learn tips for incorporating that knowledge into practice.
Captures the presentations from a live symposium on bone health held at the Midyear Clinical Meeting in December 2009 and is approved for 2 hours of CPE (Individuals claiming CPE credit for the live symposium are ineligible to claim credit for this activity)
